LOUDONVILLE, NY – A trio of Siena Baseball players was honored by the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference following stellar regular seasons. Sophomore pitcher
John Lumpinski earned Second Team All-MAAC honors, while
Connor Bovair and
Kobe Stenson were both named to the MAAC All-Rookie squad.
Â
Lumpinski has posted a 4-1 record over five starts so far this spring, three of which have come against the top-three teams in the MAAC in Fairfield, Monmouth, and Rider. The Woodbridge, Connecticut product holds a stellar 1.88 ERA and a 1.05 WHIP, while holding opposing batters to just a .196 average. The only pitcher to defeat 33-1 Fairfield so far this season, Lumpinski was named the MAAC Pitcher of the Week on May 10 following his effort vs. Rider.
Â
Bovair has already broken the Siena freshman record for strikeouts with 65, despite pitching in just nine games (eight starts) and 48.2 innings during the abbreviated season. The Fort Edward, New York native leads the MAAC in both strikeouts per-nine innings (12.02) and total strikeouts, with his 65 K's being 13 more than the next highest individual total. The Saints' de facto ace was named the MAAC Rookie of the Week on Apr. 26 following a 17-strikeout performance vs. Saint Peter's, which tied for the most strikeouts in a seven-inning game this season.
Â
Stenson hit .275 in 29 games (27 starts) this spring, while tying for the team lead in both home runs (three) and RBI (17). The North Syracuse, New York standout went 8-10 in stolen base attempts, while adding a solid .359 on-base percentage. Stenson was proclaimed the MAAC Rookie of the Week on Apr. 19.
Â
