LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – Siena Outdoor Track's
Olivia Lomascolo ended the Saints' trip to the 2021 MAAC Men's & Women's Outdoor Track Championships on a high note Sunday afternoon, running a school record in the women's 5K race. The performance highlighted a day of impressive racing on both the men's and women's side in day 2 action.
"It was a great weekend for both teams," head coach
John Kenworthy said. "The MAAC is as good as ever in outdoor track, so every year it gets more and more difficult to score points and compete at the front of races. Nonetheless, we've shown that we're growing too, and walk away from the weekend with five top-3 finishes, many personal bests, and great performances across all of our events."
Overall, the Siena men scored 31 team points to take sixth place in their fifth go-around at the event, while the women placed seventh with 34 points. Monmouth claimed victory on both the men's and women's side, doing so for the seventh consecutive season.
Lomascolo's mark of 16:51.88 in the 5,000-meter race was good for a third-place finish and re-set the previous mark run by program great
Sarah Forman in 2019. The Ballston Lake, New York native's performance highlighted a day that consisted of two trips to the podium and five scoring finishes for the Green and Gold.
