LOUDONVILLE, NY – The Siena Men's and Women's Tennis teams have once again been recognized by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association following another stellar school year academically. Both programs earned 2021 Division I ITA All-Academic Team honors, while a total of 13 Saints received Scholar Athlete acclaim.
To be named an ITA All-Academic Team, programs must achieve a team grade point average of 3.2 or higher, while Scholar Athlete recipients must hold a GPA of at least a 3.5 for the current academic year. A total of 145 Division I men's and 210 women's teams were honored, while 1,054 men's and 1,505 women's student athletes were recognized.
Men's tennis led all of Siena's male athletic programs with a 3.52 cumulative team GPA through the conclusion of the 2020-21 school year, while the MAAC Champion women's tennis team achieved an equally impressive 3.45 mark.
Men's tennis had eight student athletes receive ITA Scholar Athlete acclaim, with seniors Sagar Bains,
Guillermo Lopez Torres, and
Muhammad Sawani, juniors
Griffin Barnett and
Tomas del Olmo, sophomore
Marvin Oberli, and freshmen
Darek Kuczynski and
Soma Yokoyama earning recognition. Women's tennis boasted five honorees with senior
Kylie Mullaney, junior
Anastasia Koniaev, sophomore
Petra Miszczak, and freshmen
Emma Boggiali and
Shelby Madeiros earning acclaim.
