Siena Basketball Teams Conduct Virtual School Visits

Saints Players & Coaches Continued Involvement with Hoops for the Stars Initiative

LOUDONVILLE, NY – Members of both of Siena's basketball teams continued a long-standing tradition of engaging with school children in the local community Tuesday morning. Student athletes and coaches from the Siena Men's and Women's Basketball squads participated in virtual school visits with several Capital Region-area schools Monday, as part of Siena Athletics' "Saints in the Community" National Grid Hoops for the Stars Initiative.

The Saints used virtual meeting rooms to visit with school children from the Albany School of Humanities in Albany and several schools in nearby Troy, including Carroll Hill School, Troy Middle School, and school's 2, 14, 16, & 18.

Players and coaches from both teams introduced themselves and answered questions from students and teachers that covered a variety of topics, including the life of a student-athlete, balancing academics and athletics, their favorite activities, and more.

Despite once again being restricted to participating in school visits virtually due to COVID-19, Siena's visits with local area schools continued as they have for over 20 years. The visits normally precede Women's Basketball's annual Kid's Day game, which welcomes over 1,000 local school children to the Alumni Recreation Center for a Siena Women's Basketball game on average.
