HAMPDEN, MA – Siena Men's Golf commenced its fourth tournament of the Fall 2022 season Sunday, competing in round one of the UConn Invitational at GREATHORSE in Hampden, Massachusetts.
Through 18 holes of action, the Saints are tied for tenth after carding a team round of +30, 318. St. John's (+13, 301) leads the 14-team field, while MAAC counterparts Rider (seventh, 309) and Iona (13th, 319) are also participating.
Siena's youngest competitor performed the best in the first of three rounds, with freshman Austin Giroux birdying twice to shoot a round of +2, 74 and finish the day tied for seventh individually. Graduate student Brody Yates carded a birdie on the sixth hole to finish in a tie for 23rd with +5, 77, while sophomore Dan Brooks went low on the 14th hole to shoot +11, 83 to knot for 63rd. Senior Matthew Ferrari shot +12, 84 to knot for 68th, while classmate Nolan Crowley went for +14, 86 with one birdie to finish the day tied for 73rd.
The Saints will take the par-72, 7,093-yard course for round two on Monday, October 3, with tee times beginning at 8:30 AM.
