LOUDONVILLE, NY – In pursuit of a MAAC championship run once again, the Siena Women's Lacrosse program and head coach
Abigail Rehfuss will begin their 2022 season and the program's 26
th varsity season on the road at New Hampshire Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m.
Siena gets their year started on the road for the first time since 2020, when they began their shortened season at Brown. In opening games all-time, the Saints hold a record of 5-20. Their last win on opening day came last season in 2021, as they took a 6-5 win over Canisius in overtime at home on Hickey Field. This meeting with the Wildcats will be the first matchup between the programs. The first two games for the Saints will come over opponents they have never faced in program history.
The Saints were picked second in the MAAC Preseason Coaches' Poll, garnering three first place votes in the process. Siena received three Preseason All-MAAC selections in graduate student
Emily Fiorillo, fifth-year
Nicole McNeely, and senior
Mary Soures. Both McNeely and Soures will be in contention for multiple program records this season, with each of them sporting more than 100 career points apiece.
New Hampshire opens their season with back-to-back home games after putting up a 4-7 overall record last season. They would not qualify for the America East tournament, but ended the season with a win over Hartford by a final score of 15-10. The Wildcats began their 2021 season at home, as they were able to defeat Merrimack by a final score of 20-9.
