Box Score 2 ERIE, PA –After beginning the 2022 season winless through four matches, Siena Water Polo (3-4) emerged from its latest weekend of competition on a three-match win streak. The Saints cruised to 19-11 and 16-5 wins over Gannon and Penn State Behrend, respectively Sunday afternoon in Erie, Pennsylvania to walk away from the Curtis Robinette Memorial Invitational winners of three of four matches.
Siena 19, Gannon 11
The Green and Gold began the day with its third straight win over Gannon, with the Saints pulling out to a 5-1 lead after one quarter and an 11-5 advantage at the half. Senior co-captain
Georgia Vargas led the team with five goals, while junior
Grace Boeve added four scores and senior
Bianca Prinsloo recorded a hat trick.
Siena 16, Penn State Behrend 5
Facing off against Penn State Behrend for the first time since 2008, the Saints didn't miss a beat in their nightcap, scoring the first 12 goals of the game and not allowing their opponent to score until midway through the third period. Vargas added four more goals to highlight eight different Siena scorers, with Prinsloo, Boeve, and
Ashley Chand each scoring twice.
Following success in its second weekend of the season, Siena will be back in action next Saturday at the Courtney Fisher Invitational, with matches set against Villanova and Salem in Poughkeepsie, New York.
