WINTER GARDEN, FL - After a solid performance during the Fall 2021 season, over three months off changed absolutely nothing for Siena Men's Golf. The Saints began the spring campaign with a dominant victory at the Veterans Intercollegiate on the Orange County National course in Winter, County, Florida, taking home a team title for the second straight year.
Siena concluded the three-day, 54-hole event with a score of -7, 857, which set the program record for low 54-hole score and gave them the victory by 26 strokes. The Saints also set the school records for low single team round and low round under par with a round of -7, 281 during Sunday's action. Their 36-hole total of 574 was good for the third-lowest ever.
The Saints ended their first trip to Florida outside of the MAAC Championships since 2015 with all five competing members inside the top-15 individual finishers. Junior Nolan Crowley carded a career round of -4, 212 (73-68-71), which included six birdies in the final round of play, to finish in fifth place. The Saratoga Springs, New York native tied for the fourth lowest 54-hole score in program history, becoming only the fifth Siena golfer to shoot a 212 or lower.
Classmate Jack Tobin walked away from the third round of play on the par 72, 7,388-yard course with a hole-in-one on the par-3 fifteenth hole to finish in eighth place at -2, 214 (71-72-71) to tie for the fifth-lowest round ever. Senior Brody Yates (77-71-70) and junior Matthew Ferrari (74-70-74) both tied for 12th place with +2, 218 scores, while freshman Dan Brooks founded out the Saints competition squad with a score of +4, 220 (75-74-71) to tie for 15th. Competing as an individual, sophomore Andy Knoll carded a weekend-best 75 in the final round to finish at +13, 229 (77-77-75) to end in a tie for 35th place.
Siena will return to the Southeastern United States for more spring competition in four weeks, when it heads to St. Simons Island, Georgia for the Sea Palms Invitational hosted by Western Carolina March 4-5.
