CLAREMONT, CA – Siena Water Polo (3-10) dropped its final two matches at the Claremont Convergence Saturday in Claremont, California. The Saints took a 14-8 loss to Whittier before dropping a 13-6 decision to Santa Clara.

Siena got off to a lead after one quarter of play, but Whitter bounced back by scoring four of six goals in the second quarter to knot the match at six entering the half. The Poets outscored Siena, 8-2, in the second half to walk away with the victory, holding a 26-23 advantage in shots.

Ashley Chand recorded her first collegiate hat trick with three goals, while five other Saints recorded a goal. Junior
Anna Mossakowski made six saves in-net in the loss.

Santa Clara 13, Siena 6

The meeting between the two first-time foes marked the first time that the pair had met in any sport in Siena's history. Santa Clara held the Saints off the board completely in the first quarter and jetted out to a 6-1 halftime lead. Senior
Georgia Vargas led the team with two goals, while four members of the Green and Gold scored once and sophomore
Caroline Behr made two saves in-goal.

Siena will return to action in two weeks with the beginning of MAAC play, traveling to Poughkeepsie, New York to face #24 Marist on Saturday, March 19.
