CORAL SPRINGS, FL – Shortly after leading the Siena Athletics Department with a 3.73 team GPA during the Spring 2022 semester, Siena Women's Golf again achieved new academic heights, with a record five student athletes honored as All-American Scholars by the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA).
Rising seniors Isabella Diaz and Emily Nash, as well as rising junior Margot Osterman and rising sophomores Manoela Barcellos and Jillian Barend were honored for holding cumulative GPA's of 3.5 or better. The group was part of 25 student athletes from the MAAC and 1,485 total collegiate women's golfers to be recognized.
All five golfers were members of the MAAC Academic Honor Roll for the 2021-22 academic year, with Diaz, Nash, and Osterman named to the MAAC All-Academic Team. Barcellos led the team by holding a 3.92 cumulative GPA while finishing 30th at the 2022 MAAC Championships for the team's top individual finish. Nash held a 3.9 cumulative GPA and was named the Female Leo Dufort Student Athlete of the Month for April 2022 while serving as the secretary of Siena's Student Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) this past year. Barend held a 3.89 cumulative mark, while Osterman held a 3.55 and Diaz recorded a 3.5.
The Women's Golf Coaches Association, founded in 1983, is a non-profit organization representing women's collegiate golf coaches. The WGCA was formed to encourage the playing of college golf for women in correlation with a general objective of education and in accordance with the highest tradition of intercollegiate competition. Today, the WGCA represents over 650 coaches throughout the U.S. and is dedicated to educating, promoting and recognizing both its members and the student-athletes they represent.
