LOUDONVILLE, NY – Siena Women's Basketball sophomore Emina Selimovic has shown visible improvement on the court between her freshman and sophomore seasons, but her work in the classroom has remained at an elite level since she set foot on campus.
The Erie, Pennsylvania native became Siena's second straight Academic All-District selection Tuesday afternoon, as announced by College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA).
A two-year member of the team, Selimovic holds a 3.98 cumulative GPA as an economics major, and was a member of the prestigious 4.0 Club during the Fall 2022 semester due to her perfect academic mark. She was selected as a MAAC Academic Honor Roll member prior to last season, and was named the MAAC Female Student-Athlete of the Week on November 30, 2022.
After averaging a point-and-a-half in 20 appearances last season, the 5-10 guard has put together an impactful season thus far for the Green and Gold, averaging 7.9 points and 4.9 rebounds per-contest, putting up double-digit scoring in ten games this season and recording her first collegiate double-double (12 pts, 10 reb.) at Fairfield on January 19.
Selimovic becomes the program's 11th player to be honored as either an Academic All-District or Academic All-America Team selection, and follows Rayshel Brown '22, who was a CoSIDA First Team Academic All-District honoree last year.
The 2022-23 Academic All-District® Women's Basketball Team, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes women's basketball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in mid-March.
