DIAMONDHEAD, MS – The 2023 preseason favorites to win the MAAC are back on the course. Siena Men's Golf officially kicked off its spring campaign with 36 holes of action at the Gulf Coast Collegiate in Diamondhead, Mississippi on Monday.
Siena turned in rounds of 318 and 303 on the par 72, 6,769-yard Diamondhead Country Club course to finish day one in tenth out of 13 teams (+45, 619). North Alabama (+15, 591) leads the pack in the 54-hole event.
Senior Matthew Ferrari shot rounds of +5, 77 and +4, 76 to finish at 153 in a tie for 24th, while classmate Nolan Crowley turned in rounds of +6, 78 and +5, 77 to finish at 155 in a split for 31st.
Graduate student Brody Yates (81+76) finished day one tied in 38th, while sophomore Dan Brooks (89-74-163) and freshman Austin Giroux (82-82-164) landed in splits for 55th and 57th, respectively. Competing as an individual, sophomore Nick Lyons shot rounds of 84 and 83 for a score of 167 to finish in 63rd.
Siena rounds out opening week action on Tuesday, February 27 beginning at 9 AM EST / 8 AM CST.
