LOUDONVILLE, NY – Siena Athletics saw a record $55,000 raised for the Siena Men's and Women's Basketball programs at the annual Saints Alive! Athletic Fund Program Enhancement Reception held at 677 Prime in downtown Albany on Friday, January 20. The funds raised ensure that both coaching staffs have the financial means necessary to "Build Better Saints."
"This year's Men's & Women's Basketball Program Enhancement Reception raised a record amount of money that directly impacts the student-athlete experience for both of our teams," said Associate Athletic Director for External Relations Craig Turnbull '87. "A special thanks goes to Assistant AD for Development Paul DiLello '81 and Chip Stein '78 for their efforts in making this year's event a tremendous success."
The event featured a meet and greet with Siena Basketball Head Coaches Carmen Maciariello and Jim Jabir, and fellowship with fellow Siena Basketball alumni and supporters. Featured speakers at the event included Siena College President Dr. Chris Gibson '86, Ph.D., Vice President/Director of Athletics John D'Argenio, Maciariello, and Jabir.
Siena Athletics surpassed a fundraising goal of $50,000 for the event thanks to a matching challenge by Stein, as well as the generous support of several longtime Siena supporters. The funds raised will directly benefit both teams and their coaching staffs to be able to travel regionally, nationally, and internationally to recruit the next generation of Saints. Â The event also surpassed the total of $50,250 raised at last year's event.
