Box Score 2 POUGHKEEPSIE, NY – Siena Water Polo entered MAAC play for the first time in the 2023 season on Sunday, taking on conference foes Marist and Iona at the McCann Natatorium in Poughkeepsie, New York. The Saints dropped a 21-13 decision to the Gaels before taking a 13-5 loss to the host Red Foxes.
Iona 21, Siena 13
In a barnburner of a conference opener, Iona held a 7-2 lead after the opening quarter and led 14-5 at the half. Siena netted five of eight third quarter goals, but the Gaels had four more in the tank for the final quarter to pull away.

Parker Thomas also turned in a hat trick to lead seven total Siena scorers.
Marist 13, Siena 5
The Red Foxes – who received votes in the most recent CWPA Coaches' Poll - held a 9-3 halftime advantage in their home pool, and limited the Saints to only one goal in each of the final two periods.
Thomas steadies four different Siena scorers with a pair of goals in the nightcap.
Siena will resume conference play next weekend by hosting a MAAC weekend at the Siena Swim Center. The Saints will play host to Marist (Noon) and St. Francis Brooklyn (4 PM) on Saturday, March 25, and against Mount St. Mary's on Senior Day on Sunday, March 26.
