LOUDONVILLE, NY – It will be a showcase of MAAC lacrosse rivals when Siena Men's Lacrosse (5-5 overall, 3-3 MAAC) hosts Marist (4-7 overall, 3-3 MAAC) on Wednesday at 12:02 p.m. on ESPNU in the first-ever Gold Rush Lacrosse Game.
In terms of parity, it has been a rivalry in the truest sense in that Siena leads 21-19 in the all-time series against Marist, however the Red Foxes have won the past six meetings including last year's 11-10 win in Poughkeepsie.
The I-87 rivals last met in Loudonville in 2018 due the pandemic and cancellations.
And, the past four head-to-head encounters between the schools have been decided by three goals or fewer.
Each team finds themselves in a crowded middle pack of the MAAC standings in the push to reach the postseason.
While the top six teams will qualify for the playoffs, Manhattan and Mount St. Mary's led the MAAC with 5-1 records while LIU is in third place all alone at 4-2.
Siena and Marist are two of the four squads who enter this game tied for fourth place, joining Quinnipiac and Sacred Heart.
Jay Alter will have the call on play-by-play while Premier Lacrosse League player Jules Heninburg will serve as the color analyst in broadcasting.
The Gold Rush promotion will encourage fans to wear gold to the game.
The first 100 fans to both the men's game as well as the women's lacrosse game at 4 p.m. against Quinnipiac will receive stadium blankets, cookies, cold brews and party subs while they last.
Sponsors include the Anderson Group, Northwestern Mutual and Cardona's Market.
Siena Women's Lacrosse (9-5 overall, 4-1 MAAC) will be seeking to clinch a playoff spot with a victory against the Bobcats (6-6 overall, 2-2 MAAC).
Admission is free to both games.
