Four student-athletes from Siena Men's Lacrosse were named to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Teams announced by the league office on Friday.
Voted on by the league head coaches, the selections are comprised of two teams with three attackers, three midfielders, three defense, one goalkeeper, one long-stick midfielder, one short-stick midfielder and one face-off specialist as well as an All-Rookie Team that is comprised of 10 position-less spots.
If there were any ties, both student-athletes were included.
Major awards included Defensive Player of the Year, Face-Off Specialist of the Year, Long-Stick Midfielder of the Year, Offensive Player of the Year, Rookie of the Year and Coach of the Year.
Coaches could not vote for their own players.
Saints junior defense
Trevor Marsala was named to the All-MAAC First Team while three others were named to the All-MAAC Second Team including junior defense
Brian Mack, graduate student midfielder
Christian Watts and graduate student goalkeeper
Christopher Yanchoris.
Marsala, the Port Jefferson Station, NY native, ranks second in the MAAC in caused turnovers with game (1.85) overall and is ranked tied for second in conference-only games with 2.11 caused turnovers per game.
His 24 caused turnovers this season ranks third all-time for most caused turnovers in a single season.
The product of Mount Sinai also reached a milestone in the category by becoming the program's all-time leader in caused turnovers when he broke Jack Drillock's record of 54 in a 10-6 road victory at Manhattan on April 15 when he had two on the day.
As a team, Siena led the conference in caused turnovers per game with 9.77 and were ranked third in ground balls per game with 31.08.
A Preseason All-MAAC Team selection as a defensive member, Marsala added 25 ground balls and started all 13 games for the Saints to earn his first All-MAAC First Team Selection.
In 2022, he was named as an All-MAAC Second Team selection.
Mack ranks fifth in the MAAC in caused turnovers per game with 1.54 and ranks second on the team in the category with 20 caused turnovers.
The Manhasset, NY native has more than doubled his output in the defensive category as he had nine caused turnovers all of last season.
As a team, Siena ranks second in caused turnovers in conference games with 93 and is ranked fourth in ground balls as a team with 282.
The product of Manhasset Secondary School has also scooped 25 ground balls and has been a staple in the lineup, playing in every game thus far this season.
This marks Mack's first All-MAAC selection in his collegiate career.
Watts has led the Saints in goals (30) and ranks tied for second on the team in points with 36, and has a team-leading two game-winning goals.
The East Aurora, NY native currently ranks tied for third in the MAAC in goals per game (2.31) and has scored seven hat tricks.
Watts has started in all 13 games and also has made the most of the team's man-up opportunities with a team-leading eight man-up goals.
Watts was a big reason why Siena ranks highest in man-up scoring percentage this season in conference games (.636) and overall games (.516).
Named to the Preseason All-MAAC Team, this marks the Bishop Timon High School product's first time being selected to the All-MAAC team.
Yanchoris was named to the All-MAAC Second Team for a second consecutive season after being named to the Preseason All-MAAC Team as the top goalkeeper.
The Sykesville, MD native ranks second in the conference in goals-against average (11.33), fourth in save percentage (.513) and sixth in saves per game (12.00).
Among conference-only game ranks, Yanchoris is fourth in goals-against average (10.59), second in saves percentage (.543), and fourth in saves per contest (12.67).
A two-time MAAC Defensive Player of the Week, the product of Century High School currently ranks seventh all-time in program history with 487 saves.

In addition, a total of 206 student-athletes were named to the 2023 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Men's Lacrosse All-Academic Team, announced by the league office today.
To be eligible for the MAAC All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must complete two semesters at their institution and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 on a 4.0 scale.
Sacred Heart University led the conference with 30 All-Academic Team members. Following the Pioneers were Mount St. Mary's University and Marist College with 26 selections apiece, while Manhattan College (23) and Wager College (20) closed out the top five institutions. Quinnipiac University was next with 19, LIU followed with 18, then Siena College (16), Canisius College (15) and VMI (13) closed out the academic lineup.
