AUBURN, AL – The MAAC Champion Siena Saints officially took the course to reap its reward on Monday afternoon at the 2023 NCAA Auburn Regional at the Auburn University Club in Auburn, Alabama for round one action.
The Saints carded a team round of +30, 318 during round one of the 54-hole event to finish the day in 13
th place, five strokes behind Southland Champion Augusta.
Following Sunday's practice round, the Green and Gold teed off on the Par-72, 7,560-yard course against the likes of eight opponents in the 13-team field ranked inside the national top-50 – including No. 1 Vanderbilt.
Senior
Matthew Ferrari birdied on the par-3 third hole to end the day in a tie for 50
th with +5, 77, while freshman
Austin Giroux led the squad with a pair of birdies to end the day at +6, 78 in a tie for 54
th. Graduate student
Brody Yates shot +9, 81 to end the day in a tie for 71
st, while sophomore
Dan Brooks (+10, 82) and senior
Nolan Crowley (+13, 85) ended the opening round in 74
th and 75
th, respectively.
Siena will take the course for the second round of action on Tuesday, May 16 beginning with tee times from hole one at 9:50 AM.
