LOUDONVILLE, NY – After completing arguably one of the most successful cross country campaigns in program history in 2022, Siena Cross Country & Track head coach
John Kenworthy will look to build on recent strong performances in 2023. The 11
th year head of the program announced the team's Fall 2023 cross country slate on Tuesday.
"There is a lot of excitement heading into 2023," Kenworthy said. "We're looking to build off of a successful 2022 season, and I think this schedule gives us opportunities that will both challenge us and build confidence and momentum heading into championships late in the season."
The program's Fall 2023 slate will commence on Saturday, September 2 at the Marist Season Opener at Vassar Farm in Poughkeepsie, New York. Siena will next make the trip to South Bend, Indiana for the National Catholic Invitational for the first time since 2018 on Friday, September 15.
The team will close out the month of September at the heralded Paul Short Run on the campus of Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, where it has seen a school record broken in each of the last three runnings. October competition will commence on Friday, October 13 at the IC4A/ECAC Cross Country Championships at Van Cortlandt Park in The Bronx before the CCSU Mini Meet at Stanley Quarter Park in New Britain, Connecticut on Friday, October 20.
Siena will look to follow up a pair of second place finishes last season with another strong result at the 2023 MAAC Cross Country Championships, which are set for Saturday, October 28 at the Twin Ponds on the Farm in Montgomery, New York. The team will return to Van Cortlandt Park on Friday, November 10 for the running of the NCAA Northeast Regional Championships. Select team and individual qualifiers will advance to the NCAA Division I National Championships in Charlottesville, Virginia on Saturday, November 18.
