2025-26 MAAC Indoor Track & Field Preseason Coaches’ Polls Released

Saints Men & Women Track Teams both selected ninth

LOUDONVILLE, NY – Third-year Indoor Track & Field head coach Elizabeth DeBole will be looking for mostly fresh faces on the podium this season after last season's MAAC Championship performance in which the Saints secured three gold medals for a second consecutive season.

While only one of four members of the gold-winning women's 4x800-meter relay team returns to the roster and two other individual champions in the women's one-mile and 800-meter events have since graduated, a new crop of Saints will take aim at the 2025-2026 indoor track season.

On Monday, the conference office revealed the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Men's and Women's Indoor Track & Field Preseason Coaches' Polls, as voted on by the league's head coaches.

The Siena Women were chosen ninth in the MAAC Preseason Coaches' Poll while the Siena men were also picked ninth ahead of the start of competition, which opens on Dec. 6 for the Saints at Army West Point's Crowell Invitational.

Rider was once again selected as the favorites to win four straight championships in both polls.

Picked unanimously in the poll for the fourth consecutive year, the Rider Broncs men's team swept the poll by receiving all 10 first-place votes for a total of 100 points. The Broncs picked up four gold medals, three silver medals and five bronze medals.

2025 MAAC runner-up, Iona was tabbed second behind the Broncs, receiving 88 points, while Mount St. Mary's rounded out the top three with 71 points. Manhattan jumped up one spot from a year ago to a fourth-place projection with 66 while Marist also moved up to garner the fifth spot with 60 points. Merrimack, who joined the MAAC in the sport last year, slid from fourth to sixth.

On the women's side, Rider was also chosen as the favorites for the fourth straight season, with a slight tick down to 119 points, while collecting nine first-place votes in the poll. Last season, Rider secured two gold medals, five silver medals and four bronze medals.

Picked second for the fourth consecutive season was 2025 runner-up Quinnipiac, who totaled 111 points and two first-place votes. Rounding out the women's top five was Sacred Heart, who rose one spot from last season's poll with 99 points, Mount St. Mary's, who dropped one spot with 81, and rising Iona (76).

In 2025, Siena earned gold medals in the women's one-mile with the now graduated Keira Flaherty taking the event in 4:52 while another now graduated student athlete Claire Gardner won the 800-meter in 2:12.91. The duo paired with another graduate Jennifer McClintock and current senior Mattingly O'Rourke to take first place in the 4x800-meter relay in 9:14.58.

On the men's side, several Saints are primed to make the leap.  Senior Tyler Greene ran fourth in last year's one-mile (4:09.01).  Fifth-year Luke Thaczyk followed closely behind in that same event (4:12.46) while junior Marcus Homa was eighth (4:19.38).

Additionally, three of the four members who ran in the men's 4x800 medley relay are back this season including junior Cormac Leahy, senior PJ Dauer and sophomore Jake Passalugo.  Only Parris Porter from the grouping has not returned.  The team ran fourth in the event (7:50.51).
