ITHACA, NY – Just one week out from taking part in the 2024 MAAC Indoor Track & Field Championships, Siena Indoor Track closed out regular season action with a trip to the Deneault Invitational on the campus of Cornell University in Ithaca, New York on Saturday.
The Green and Gold featured participants in the 800, mile, 3,000, and 5,000-meter events.
Freshman
Tyler Tkaczyk finished third in the men's mile with a time of 4:20.39, while classmate
Jayson Chichelli (4:24.58) and senior
Ryan Shanahan (4:24.73) followed in tenth and 11
th, respectively. Sophomore
Kate DeForest led the team in the women's mile with a time of 5:24.18.
Senior
Griffin Cooke turned in a fifth-place performance in the men's 800 with a time of 1:58.11, while sophomore
Mattingly O'Rourke took fifth on the women's side with a mark of 2:23.82.
The men's 3,000 saw senior
Killian McNamee finish third with a time of 8:31.80, while senior
Christopher DeForest (8:57.75) and sophomore
Brody Santagata (8:59.86) followed in tenth and 11
th, respectively. Sophomore
Izzy McNamee led the way in the women's 3,000 with a time of 10:55.04 for ninth place, while freshman
Olivia Armenia placed 13
th with a time of 11:11.78.
Siena will compete at the 2024 MAAC Indoor Track Championships February 24-25 at the New Balance Armory Track & Field Center in New York City. The Saints will look to defend their distance medley relay titles won on both the men's and women's side last year.
