LOUDONVILLE, NY – Siena Men's Lacrosse will be seeking to build off a redemptive effort in last Saturday's victory in another conference game when it hosts a hot LIU team on Saturday for a 3 p.m. faceoff at Hickey Field.
The Saints (3-4 overall, 1-1 MAAC) turned around its fortunes with a more complete game especially on the defensive side of the ball when it allowed just eight goals versus VMI after allowing a season-high 18 just a week prior at Sacred Heart.
On the dot, Siena were much more effective as well. Led by graduate student
Dylan Pape, the Saints' faceoff specialist won 12 of 21 matchups against the conference's top FOGO in Jack Rogers to set the tone.
LIU (5-1, 2-0 MAAC) poses a different challenge in that the Sharks have allowed the fewest goals in the MAAC with a meager 49 goals given up in six games (8.16 goals allowed per game).
During the Sharks' current five-game winning streak, it hasn't allowed more than eight goals in a game with wins notched versus Merrimack, Lindenwood, UMass Lowell, VMI and Mount St. Mary's.
Siena men's lacrosse head coach
Liam Gleason knows it will take a big effort, but believes that his team has a high ceiling.
"When we're executing at a high level, I think we're one of the better teams in the conference so consistency is going to be key," Gleason said.
The game will be available to watch on ESPN+ with Chris Watson and Tom Schwan on the call.
