LOUDONVILLE, NY – Siena Water Polo continued to extend its program record for the most weekly awards won in a single season with the addition of two more honors following another week of conference action. Senior goalkeeper
Caroline Behr took home her first-ever MAAC Defensive Player of the Week honor, while freshman
Rebecca Currie earned MAAC Rookie of the Week honors for the first time, the conference announced on Wednesday afternoon.
Behr totaled 21 saves, one steal, and two assists for the Saints in a 1-1 conference weekend. The Houston, Texas native made 11 saves against #21 LIU, and ten saves, one steal, and two assists in a 19-9 win over VMI.
Currie totaled six goals, three assists, four steals, two blocks, and one exclusion drawn in a 1-1 conference weekend for the Saints, including hat tricks in both games. The Johannesburg, South Africa product went for three goals, one assist, two steals, and two blocks against #21 LIU, and for three goals, two assists, one exclusion drawn, and two steals in a 19-9 win over VMI.
The program has now garnered a single-season program record 11 MAAC weekly awards this season, including six for freshman
Catherine Williamson and the other three for freshman goalkeeper
Maggie Frye.
Siena concludes the 2024 season with home action against Iona and Marist at the Siena Swim Center on Saturday, April 13. Â
