LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – Siena Outdoor Track was busy at multiple competitions this weekend, with select runners taking part in the Virginia Challenge in Charlottesville, Virginia, and others running at the Rider Invitational in Lawrenceville, Virginia.
Friday's action in Virginia featured graduate student
Madeleine Hesler setting the program record in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 10:44.86 and a third-place finish. Fifth year
Tommy Anderson finished third in the men's steeplechase with a time of 9:06.06, while fifth year
Matthew Laframboise logged the third-fastest time in program history in the men's 800 at 1:51.98.
Saturday's action at Rider featured competitors in the 5,000, 1,500 and 800-meter events. Freshman
Olivia Armenia led the way with a time of 18:59.08 in the women's 5,000, while senior
Killian McNamee won the men's 5,000 by over 11 seconds with a time of 14:49.00.
Junior
Claire Gardner won the women's 1,500 with a time of 4:31.82, while classmates
Keira Flaherty (4:34.20) and
Julia Caputo (4:42.11) finished fourth and sixth, respectively. Senior
Ryan Shanahan (3:57.47) and junior
Luke Tkaczyk (3:57.83) finished fifth and sixth, respectively in the men's race. Sophomore
Mattingly O'Rourke finished fourth in the women's 800 with a time of 2:18.73, while senior
Griffin Cooke ran a time of 2:01.08 in the men's race.
Siena will next send select runners to The Penn Relays on Thursday, April 25, while others will take part at the Capital District Classic on Friday, April 26.
