LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – For Siena Outdoor Track, the "Siena Saints" became the "Steeplechase Saints" Saturday afternoon to begin the 2024 MAAC Outdoor Track Championships at the Michael P. Brady Track & Field Complex in Lawrenceville, New Jersey.
Graduate student
Madeleine Hesler joined fifth year
Tommy Anderson in claiming individual MAAC championships in their respective 3,000 steeplechase events as part of day one action. Hesler claimed victory with a time of 11:00.00 to win by over 11 seconds for her second MAAC title this year, while Anderson won by over five seconds for his second outdoor track individual gold in three seasons. Freshman
Collin Brown (9:14.70) followed behind Anderson for second place in the steeplechase, while freshman
Connor Thomas (9:28.21) and junior
Luke Tkaczyk (9:28.22) took sixth and seventh place, respectively to all score for the Green and Gold. Junior
Julia Caputo (36:26.43) placed fourth in the women's 10,000, while freshman
Colin Brunelle (31:45.53) finished fifth on the men's side.
The teams' four scoring performances on the day helped the men land in fourth place out of eight teams with 27 points, while the women finished the day in sixth out of nine programs with 15 points.
Several Saints qualified for final events on Sunday in both the 1,500 and the 800. Hesler and sophomore
Chloe Poulos placed fourth and 11
th, respectively, to do so in the women's 1,500, while senior

Jayson Chichelli took fifth and 11
th, respectively to advance on the men's side.

Mattingly O'Rourke took fourth, fifth, and sixth, respectively to advance in the women's 800, while fifth year
Matthew Laframboise placed fourth to do so on the men's side.
Siena will conclude weekend MAAC Championship action with the running of the 800, 1,500, 5,000, 4x100, 4x400, and 4x800 finals.
