Water Polo Head Coach Alex Williams Resigns

Williams Steps Down to Pursue Other Opportunities After Five Seasons at the Helm

LOUDONVILLE, NY – Following five seasons of leading Siena Water Polo, head coach Alex Williams informed Siena College Vice President / Director of Athletics John D'Argenio of his decision to resign his position to pursue other opportunities.

"I leave Siena with tremendous gratitude for the opportunity to live my dream as an NCAA Division I coach," Williams said. "I'm proud of the work the team accomplished over the past five seasons, which includes the program's only winning season and only victory over a nationally-ranked opponent. The Capital Region has been a great home for me, but I feel the time is right for me to pursue other opportunities. I would like to thank the administration and the two best assistant coaches I've ever had, Jacob Castro and Kaylee Kastrup, for believing in me."

"Alex provided growth opportunities for Siena Water Polo for the past five seasons, and we are grateful for his contributions to the program," D'Argenio said. "We wish Alex the very best moving forward."

Williams' five seasons at Siena were highlighted by 25 wins, including a 7-6 record during the shortened 2020 season to represent the program's first-ever winning campaign. He coached two Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) Honorable Mention All-American selections and four All-MAAC honorees, as well as the 2024 MAAC Rookie of the Year.

Assistant Coach Kaylee Kastrup has also resigned her position to pursue other opportunities.

A search will begin immediately for the next head coach of Siena Water Polo.
