LOUDONVILLE, NY – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference has released its 2024-25 women's basketball league schedule. The Saints will once again play a 20-game regular season conference schedule this winter, which tips off on Dec. 19.
Despite playing 20 regular season MAAC games again this coming winter – featuring an even breakdown of 10 home and 10 road conference contests – this year's league slate will include several new wrinkles.
With the MAAC officially expanding to 13 members earlier this month with the additions of Merrimack and Sacred Heart, the conference will feature an unbalanced 20-game league schedule. Every team will play eight teams twice, but will play four teams just once in regular season action. Each team will play its closest geographic rival twice – which, for Siena, is Marist – while the remainder of the schedule is randomized. As a result, the Saints will play Merrimack and Rider only once this season at home, while facing defending MAAC Champion Fairfield and Saint Peter's just one time in road action.
Once again this season, all 20 Siena MAAC games will be contested on the fan-friendly days of Thursdays and Saturdays, highlighted by seven conference home games on Saturdays at the UHY Center. The Saints will have two conference byes – Saturday, Jan. 11 and Thursday, Feb. 27 – and will play no more than two consecutive home or road conference contests at any point.
Siena tips off its 36
th season of Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference action with the annual December weekend just prior to the Christmas break. The Saints will open by hosting Western New York foes Niagara – on Thursday, Dec. 19 – and Canisius – on Saturday, Dec. 21 – at the UHY Center.
Siena will ring in the New Year with a weekend in the Big Apple with contests at Manhattan (Jan. 2) and at Iona (Jan. 4) to tip off 2025. After returning home to host Quinnipiac (Jan. 9) prior to the first of its two conference byes, the Saints will play split home and away weekends for the remainder of their league schedule, with the exception of the annual Western New York trip to Niagara and Canisius the weekend of Feb. 20-22.
Siena will host I-87 rival Marist on Thursday, Jan. 30 at the UHY Center before taking on the Red Foxes on Thursday, Feb. 13 in Poughkeepsie. The Saints welcome new MAAC rivals Merrimack and Sacred Heart to Loudonville on Saturday, Jan. 18 and Saturday, Feb. 15, respectively, and will travel to Sacred Heart on Jan. 16.
Siena will face defending MAAC Champion Fairfield just once, coming in the penultimate game of the regular season on Thursday, Mar. 6 in Connecticut. The Saints wrap up the regular season slate when they host Manhattan on Senior Day on Saturday, Mar. 8 at the UHY Center.
The 2025 MAAC Basketball Championships will return to Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey for the sixth consecutive year from Tuesday, Mar. 11 through Saturday, Mar. 15.
The complete 2024-25 Siena Women's Basketball schedule will be released later this summer following the announcement of the Saints non-conference schedule.
Excitement surrounding the Siena Women's Basketball program is high entering the 2024-25 season following the promotion of
Terry Primm to head coach. Fresh off back-to-back MAAC Semifinals appearances and the program's most MAAC wins (14) in 21 years, the Saints return three All-MAAC performers while also welcoming, to date, seven newcomers of which six are true freshmen.
