Jackson Cayward continues to reset the bar higher for himself and the Siena Men's Cross Country team.
The graduate student shaved off more than 20 seconds off his previous 8K time from just three weeks earlier to run the Paul Short Run in 24:12.9 last Friday in Bethlehem PA at the Goodman Campus Cross Country Course at Lehigh University.
For his accolades, Cayward has been named the Jersey Mike's MAAC Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week for the second time this season.
The finish was 67th overall in a field of 1,382 competitors from 158 schools including top flight talent from Georgetown, Utah State, Texas A&M, Harvard, Wingate and Penn State.
Cayward was previously named the MAAC Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week after he took first place in the Jasper Fall Cross Country Invitational with a time of 24:33.2 at Twin Ponds on the Farm in Montgomery on Sept. 13, the same course where the 2025 MAAC Cross Country Championships will be held on Nov. 1.
The Tolland, CT native beat out all others in a competitive field of 201 runners.
The time was two-tenths of a second faster than his time on the same course during the 2023 MAAC Cross Country Championships when he placed second overall that day.
