Saints Return Home to Host Dartmouth

Siena looks to Defend Home Court on Sunday at 2 P.M.

LOUDONVILLE, NY - Siena Women's Basketball returns home Sunday for the first time since the team's season opener on Nov. 4 and will welcome the Dartmouth Big Green to the UHY Center for a 2 p.m. tip-off.

The Saints return to the UHY Center following back-to-back games away from home. The Green & Gold won't be on its home court for long, however, as the team will follow Sunday's game with a season-long three-game road stand, albeit one of which is at nearby Broadview Center for the Albany Cup on Nov. 19.

Siena (0-3) continued its upward trend shooting from the field, posting a .455 field goal percentage in its most recent game at Army West Point on Nov. 13. It was the third consecutive game in which the Saints improved their field goal percentage and are now up to the fifth-highest mark in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, shooting 36.4% overall. Genevieve Wedemeyer and Francesca Schiro combined to shoot 10-for-17 from the field, while Wedemeyer tied her career high with 13 points in the game.

Most notably, Valencia Fontenelle-Posson and Zyriah Price got their first taste of action this season in Siena's most recent game at Army West Point. For Fontenelle-Posson, it was her first game action since Dec. 7, 2023, and she scored four points on 1-for-1 shooting and 2-for-2 from the line over 12 minutes. Price enjoyed eight minutes of play in the game, scoring five points to go with two rebounds.

Third-year head coach at Dartmouth Linda Cimino takes her Big Green squad into Loudonville with a 2-1 record through three games. Dartmouth is 1-1 against Division I opponents this season with a 52-50 season-opening road win at Boston University and a 65-41 loss at UAlbany on Nov. 10. Additionally, the Big Green posted a 98-33 victory over Division III Colby-Sawyer in its home opener on Nov. 12. Aside from shooting 57.8% from the field and 54.2% from three against Colby-Sawyer, Dartmouth had not reached 40% from the field and 32% from three in either previous game and was out-rebounded in both outings. Olivia Austin leads the team, scoring 13.7 points a night, while Alexandra Eldredge (11.3 PPG) and Zeynep Ozel (10.0 PPG) also average in double figures.

Sunday marks the 16th meeting between Siena and Dartmouth, in which the Saints hold a 10-5 edge. The all-time series was tied 4-4 entering the 21st century, while the Saints have won six of the last seven meetings since the 2000-01 season to take a commanding 10-5 advantage. Additionally, Siena is 6-2 all-time against Dartmouth in Loudonville, with each of the two losses decided by four points or less. The Saints won the last meeting 56-49 on Nov. 12, 2023, in Hanover, NH, in which current Fontenelle-Posson nearly walked away with a double-double, posting 12 points and nine rebounds.

Emmanuel Berbari and Brian Rubino will have the call on ESPN+, with Hailey Deptula also on hand to deliver sideline reporting. Joe Puccio and Steve Amedio will deliver the local broadcast on WVCR 88.3 FM. Tickets, live stats, and courtside X updates can be found by clicking on the corresponding links.
