LOUDONVILLE, NY - Siena Water Polo will have no shortage of top competition on its slate during the 2026 season. The Saints will match up against six teams that ended the 2025 season ranked inside the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) poll and an additional three that garnered recognition as part of its 20-match schedule.
"We're very excited about the 2026 season," said head coach
Michael Ashe. "The team has been very diligent in their training and grew immensely over the fall preseason. I am very impressed with our growth and the process of learning a new system. Our captains and senior leadership have been impressive, and the standards that they have set for the program are exceptional."
The Saints open the season with their annual trip to the Bruno Classic, hosted by Brown and Harvard. There, Siena will take on three teams who were ranked or receiving votes in the final 2025 CWPA Poll (Brown, Bucknell, and Harvard). The Green & Gold will also take on Chapman for the fourth time in program history, and the first since 2023.
Siena follows with an outing at the Princeton Invite, where all three teams—Indiana, Princeton, and Brown—finished inside the final CWPA Poll, before going to the Bucknell Invite from Feb. 14-15. Siena will have one additional match before league play, taking on Harvard once more in Cambridge, MA, on Mar. 8.
Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) play begins Mar. 14-15 for the Saints, who travel to Villanova, PA, for matches against LIU and Iona. After a trip down I-87 to take on Wagner and Mount St. Mary's at Marist, Siena will play its lone home match of the season against Marist at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Mar. 25.
The Saints close regular season play from Mar. 28-29 in Lexington, VA, to take on Villanova, VMI, and La Salle over the weekend.
Siena will look to be one of the top four teams that qualify for the MAAC Championship Tournament, which will be played from Apr. 11-12 at a site not yet determined.
