Gleason Named ECAC Coach of the Year

Men’s Lacrosse Program Won First MAAC Championship since 2014

DANBURY, Conn. – Siena Men's Lacrosse Head Coach Liam Gleason has been named the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) 2025 Division I Men's Lacrosse Coach of the Year.

Among the three other major award winners were Cornell attacker CJ Kirst, who won Offensive Player of the Year while Rutgers University's Cardin Stoller won Defensive Player of the Year.

Boston University freshman Timothy Shannehan won Rookie of the Year.

The Saints last had a selection on the All-ECAC Team in 2023 when defensemen Trevor Marsala was selected. 

Gleason becomes the first ECAC Coach of the Year for Siena.  

Siena (11-5, 7-1 MAAC) was ranked No. 20 in both the USILA and Media Poll for the first time since June 1, 2011. 

The Saints led the MAAC in goals scored (233), average margin of victory (3.6), shot percentage (.328), ground balls (542), caused turnovers (145), goals per game (13.71), assists per game (8.71), points per game (22.41), shots on goal per game (25.41, man-up goals per game (1.24), and man-up scoring percentage (.412).

The ECAC (Eastern College Athletic Conference) is an eighty-five-year-old organization with well over 200 member schools across all three NCAA Divisions - I, II and III. The ECAC exists to enhance the experience of student-athletes participating in intercollegiate athletics and provides great value for universities and colleges by sponsoring championships, leagues, bowl games, tournaments and other competitions throughout the Northeast. The ECAC also hosts a comprehensive esports program that presently involves 160 schools fielding 1100 teams across 14 different esports games, streamed live four nights a week. The ECAC's esports platform has and continues to expand the geographic footprint of the Conference nationally.
