Saints Seeing 20/20

Siena ranked for first time in both USILA and Inside Lacrosse polls since June 2011

LOUDONVILLE, NY – Siena Men's Lacrosse continues to ascend up the polls.
 
In both the week 13 United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Coaches Poll and the KANE Men's Lacrosse Division I Inside Lacrosse Media Poll, the Saints (11-4) checked in ranked at No. 20 for the first time since the team was ranked inside the Top-20 for both polls on June 1, 2011. 
 
This is only the third week that the team has been nationally ranked in the USILA Coaches Poll and second time in the national Media Poll. 

Both previous times, Siena was also ranked 20th
 
This marks the fourth consecutive week in which the Saints have been listed as either receiving votes or ranked in either the Inside Lacrosse Media Poll or the USILA Coaches Poll. Siena was receiving votes in last week's USILA Coaches Poll and was also receiving votes in the two prior weeks to that in the Inside Lacrosse Media Poll.   
 
Cornell (14-1) sits atop the polling for the seventh week in a row followed by Ohio State (14-2), Princeton (12-3), Maryland (11-3) and Syracuse (11-5). 
 
The Saints increased its winning streak to nine straight with a 12-8 over #16/#19 Sacred Heart in the MAAC Championship this past Saturday—matching the program's longest winning streak since winning 10 in a row from March 21, 2009 through May 3, 2009.   
 
The Saints currently rank seventh nationally in face-off win percentage (.602) and third in assists per game (8.93), while also leading the MAAC in scoring (14.00), points per game (22.88), man-up scoring percentage (.417), second in ground balls (31.31) and is second in man-down defense (.739).
 
Individually, Logan Banek, who was named the MAAC Face Off Specialist of the Year as well as the MAAC Rookie of the Year and First Team selection, currently is ranked third in the nation in ground balls per game (8.87) and ranks ninth in face-off win percentage (.615). 
 
MAAC First Team selection Ryan McCarthy is second nationally in assists per game (3.07), and MAAC Offensive Player of the Year and First Team selection Pratt Reynolds stands third in the country in goals per game (3.67).
 
Siena was also ranked 20th nationally in both the May 9 and June 11, 2011 USILA Coaches' Polls, matching the program's highest-ever national ranking in any major weekly poll.

The Saints previously received votes and/or were ranked in a given week in the USILA Coaches' Poll and/or Media Poll a total of 25 times between 2008-14. Siena won 87 games from 2007-14, matching the eighth highest win total nationally over that span.
