Softball Announces Incoming Signing Class

Bump Introduces Next Crop of Saints

LOUDONVILLE, NY - Coming off a single-season program record 36 victories and the program's third Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championship Series appearance in the last four seasons, Siena Softball head coach Casey Bump announced the signings of five incoming freshmen and one rising sophomore transfer, set to join the Saints next season.

"We have a group of three pitchers that will join us in Loudonville this fall," said Bump. "We had two senior pitchers graduate last spring, and both were key contributors. So, not only will this group add great depth to our staff, but they also will have the opportunity to earn important innings. In addition, they are each two-way players and will have the opportunity to hit as well."

Bump added, "We have a catcher, middle infielder, and a corner infielder entering as freshmen in addition to the pitchers. They are all strong athletes, and I expect them to push for playing time."

Sophia Colucci | South Plainfield, NJ | Saint Thomas Aquinas High School | Corner Infield
A four-year varsity player from Saint Thomas Aquinas, Sophia Colucci was named All-Red Division and to the All-County Second Team as a junior. Off the field, Colucci is an Honor Roll and Spanish Honor Society student and spends time volunteering at the South Plainfield Education Foundation and the South Plainfield Police Athletic League.

Coach Bump on Colucci: "Sophia has the potential to be a power bat for us. She is another player who works tirelessly, always looking to improve, which fits perfectly with our culture here. I expect her to compete at the corners, and she is athletic enough to play either first or third. I am excited to get her on campus."

Arianna DeCotis | Windham, NH | Windham High School | Catcher
A decorated catcher out of Windham High School, Arianna DeCotis comes to Loudonville after being named New Hampshire Player of the Year, First Team All-State, and a USA Softball All-American throughout her time at Windham High School. A four-year varsity starter and two-year captain, DeCotis broke the New Hampshire state record for home runs as a freshman with 13. She has also boasted High Honor Roll honors each year in school.

Coach Bump on DeCotis: "Ari is a catcher with a very strong bat. She receives the ball well behind the plate and has a strong arm and should be able to impact the opposition's running game. I love her toughness. I think she can be a middle-of-the-lineup type hitter. I look forward to getting her on campus."

Violet Marta | Moorestown, NJ | Moorestown (Drexel) | Pitcher
The lone transfer in the class, Violet Marta joins the Saints after spending her freshman season at Drexel. There, the Moorestown, NJ, native made 15 starts over 28 outings while picking up a pair of wins. A four-year letterwinner and four-year team MVP at Moorestown High School, Marta was a two-time All-South Jersey All-Star selection, three-time First Team All-Conference member, and one-time Second Team All-Conference selection. She holds her high school's record for strikeouts, hits and home runs, and hurled multiple no-hitters and perfect games for the Quakers.

Coach Bump on Marta: "I am very happy with the addition of Violet to our staff. She is a transfer who pitched significant innings in a strong conference as a freshman. She has three years of eligibility left, and I think she has the potential to be an outstanding part of our pitching staff. Violet has also had success offensively at this level, so I'm excited to see what she can do at the plate."

Sarah Miller | Coventry, CT | Suffield Academy | Middle Infield
A two-time Connecticut Class S State Champion, Sarah Miller's resume also features All-State and All-Conference honors, as well as being named to the Connecticut All-Junior Select Team. Miller's time at Coventry High School led to school honors as Outstanding Freshman Athlete, along with the softball team's Offensive Player of the Year award. In the classroom she also achieved High Honor Roll every year.

Coach Bump on Miller: "Sarah is really athletic. I expect her to compete in the middle of the infield, but she can honestly play all over the field. She is that kind of athlete. She has a compact, strong swing and hits line drives, which we like. She is a tireless worker, and that will serve her well. I think she will do great things as a Saint."
Kaytlin Stephens | Riverside, CA | Ramona High School | Pitcher
Kaytlin Stephens joins the recent wave of California natives traveling east to Loudonville. An NFCA All-West Region First Team selection (2024-25), Stephens is a two-time River League Most Valuable Pitcher at Ramona High School, as well as an All-River Valley League First Team honoree. Stephens has accumulated nearly 60 victories in the circle in her high school career, all while sporting a near-2.00 ERA in 80+ appearances and 400+ innings. A two-way player in high school, she had a .473 batting average at the plate this past season (35-74) and was a .371 career hitter over her four varsity seasons. In the classroom, Stephens is a four-time Scholar Athlete Award recipient, as well as a 2022-23 NFCA All-American Scholar Athlete.

Coach Bump on Stephens: "I love Kaytlin's poise in the circle. She moves the ball really well and hits her spots. She has pitched in high level games at the club level which I think will help prepare her for this level. I expect her to be in the mix for innings on the day she arrives in Loudonville."

Jordan Strauss | Haddon Township, NJ | Haddon Township High School | Pitcher
Jordan Strauss' high school career has been nothing short of an accomplished one. The Haddon Township, NJ, native is both a First Team All-South Jersey and Second Team All-State honoree, as well as a Group One Section champion and state runner-up at Haddon Township High School. Over 342.1 innings in the circle, she owned a 2.17 ERA and fanned 579 batters to just 160 walks. While joining the Saints' pitching staff, Strauss had a solid high school career at the plate as well - accumulating 153 hits on a .503 batting average, along with 143 runs and 133 RBI.

Coach Bump on Strauss: "I am very excited to start working with Jordan in the fall. She spins the ball well and brings a very competitive approach to the circle. She is not afraid to go after hitters. She will have the opportunity to earn innings right from day one. Jordan is a two-way player, and I am looking forward to seeing what she contributes offensively as well."
