Greene Takes Silver in Men’s One-Mile at MAAC Indoor Track Championships

Saints’ senior finishes in 4:11.17

Senior Tyler Greene had been so close to reaching the podium at the 2025 MAAC Indoor Track & Field Championships.

On Sunday, he did not miss his mark.

Greene stayed up with the pacesetter—Iona's Tristan Coles— and closed with a flourish for a silver medal in the men's one-mile event on the second—and final day—of the 2026 MAAC Indoor Track and Field Championships at the Nike Armory in New York City, NY on Sunday.

Greene, the native of Scotia, NY, had run a 4:09.01 in the same event last year at this time, but that finish was good for fourth place.

His time of 4:11.17 this year made him the second Saint to reach the podium after Colin Brunelle took bronze in the men's 5K on Saturday.

The time was better than 11 seconds faster that his preliminary time on Saturday.

Other top finishers in the event for Siena included Evan Wattie (4:19.30) in seventh overall and Marcus Homa (4:23.21) in 10th overall.

Senior Mattingly O'Rourke led for a portion of the 800-meter before finishing in fourth place with a time of 2:19.16.

She had run a qualifying time of 2:14.96 on Saturday.

Brunelle put together another solid performance, finishing in fourth place in the men's 3k with a time of 8:21.13. Iona runners Matt Rankin, Baptiste Cartieaux and Coles took the first three spots. Jake Gogarty (8:49.67), Wattie (9:07.18) and Behn Thomas (9:12.61) also took part in the event for the Saints.

In the women's 3,000-meter, Kaitlin DeForest closed in 10:44.50 with Faith Skowvron running directly behind at 10:44.84.

Marissa Navarra (10:57.56) and Cameron Sisk (11:13.59) also competed in the event.

The women's 4x400 meter relay team of Sara Fitzgerald, Delaney Spalthoff, Avery Kozerski and Julianna Tourangeau were 10th with a time of 4:32.47.

In the women's 4x800, Tourangeau, Kozerski, Katie Hayes and O'Rourke were ninth with a time of 10:07.34.

The men's 4x400 team of Homa, Cormac Leahy, PJ Dauer and Passalugo finished in 10th, clocking in at 3:35.73.

Despite limited sized rosters, the Siena Men totaled 21 points in the standings while the Siena Women accumulated five points.

Siena will take time off now before beginning the outdoor track season on March 27-28 at Bryant University's Black and Gold Invitational in Smithfield, RI.
