HAMDEN, Conn. — The Siena Men's Lacrosse rolled at the face off x and did the same on the scoreboard to the tune of an 18-11 conference-opening road victory at Quinnipiac on Saturday at the Quinnipiac Soccer & Lacrosse Stadium.
The Saints capitalized on power-play opportunities as well, scoring four goals with the advantage, while dominating face offs 26-6 to secure the victory.
Siena moved to 5-2 overall and 1-0 in MAAC play while Quinnipiac dropped to 1-5 overall and 0-1 in MAAC play.
Siena took control from the onset. Senior
Travis Fry scored the first goal at 5:32, setting the tone early as
Conor Hufnagel added another goal at 2:49, followed by two consecutive man-up goals by
Patrick Radomski, with assists from
Nikolas Barbero and
Patrick Linton, at 2:34 and 1:51 respectively. Radomski completed his hat trick with a third goal at 2:28, assisted by Hufnagel.
It marked Radomski's fourth hat trick this season as he continues to lead the conference in goals scored with 24.
Senior
Caden Olmstead had a career-best six point-day with four goals and two assists, rifling up a team-high 11 shots on goal.
The Saints led 5-0 at the end of the quarter, demonstrating effective offensive play.
Siena extended its lead during the second quarter, opening with a goal by
Patrick Linton at 13:34. Despite the Bobcats responding with a goal from Giovanni Guerrette at 11:42, Siena's
Caden Olmstead capitalized on a man-up opportunity to score at 8:32, assisted by
Nikolas Barbero. Quinnipiac kept up the pressure with a man-up goal by Ethan McGerald, assisted by Nate Watson, at 5:02. However, Siena's offense continued to dominate with goals from Fry at 3:22 and
Colby LeBlanc at 2:24, ending the quarter with a 9-3 advantage.
Siena surged ahead in the third quarter with a strong offensive display, starting with
Logan Banek scoring a man-down goal at 13:23. This momentum continued as Radomski and Hufnagel each contributed goals, extending the Saints' lead. Despite the Bobcats' efforts, including goals by Justin Robbert and Nate Watson, Siena maintained control. Olmstead was pivotal, scoring three times, including a man-up goal at 2:33, assisted by Radomski. Olmstead's final two goals came in the closing minutes, sealing a decisive quarter for the visitors.
Siena's
Tyler Kuprianchik initiated the fourth quarter with a successful faceoff win, leading to Linton's goal, assisted by Olmstead at 12:21. Despite Quinnipiac's subsequent clock violation, Radomski extended Siena's lead to 18-7 with a goal assisted by Hufnagel at 10:34. The Bobcats responded with a scoring surge, as Guerrette, Robbert, and Watson each found the back of the net, closing the gap to 18-10. Watson added another goal, further narrowing the margin to 18-11.
Liam Lennon,
Joe Valenza and
R.J. Ihlefeld also contributed to the defense with two caused turnovers apiece.
Next up, Siena will have a nine-day break before returning to action next Tuesday, March 17 at 6:30 p.m. when it goes across town to face UAlbany (2-3) in a rematch of last year's 2025 NCAA Tournament game.
