The Siena Men's Golf team turned in a solid showing at the Roar-EE Invitational, finishing tied for ninth place in a competitive 15-team field at Wiltwyck Golf Club in Kingston, NY. The Saints posted rounds of 288 and 292 to finish at 580 (+4) over the one-day, two-round event.
Siena found itself in a tightly packed leaderboard, finishing in a three-way tie for ninth alongside Cornell and Fordham, just four strokes shy of a top-five finish. Fairfield claimed the team title at 15-under, followed by Columbia and Iona at 9-under.
Leading the way for the Saints was
Michael Broeker, who delivered a consistent performance across both rounds. The sophomore carded a 73 (+1) in the opening round before improving to a 71 (-1) in round two to finish even par (144), tying for 20th overall in the individual standings.
KC Nickel followed closely behind, finishing at 145 (+1) to tie for 24th. Nickel opened with an even-par 72 and added a 73 (+1) in the second round to secure a top-25 finish.
Austin Giroux highlighted Siena's low round of the tournament with a 69 (-3) in the opening round, helping the Saints to an even-par team score in round one. He finished tied for 42nd at 147 (+3) after a second-round 78.
Michael McConie and
Gavin Crowley rounded out the scoring lineup for Siena. McConie placed tied for 57th at 149 (+5), while Crowley finished tied for 63rd at 150 (+6), each contributing steady rounds to the team total.
Competing as an individual,
Connor Kiel posted a 151 (+7) to tie for 71st.
Siena will next take the course for the first round of the MAAC Championships on Tuesday, April 28, at Disney's Magnolia Course in Orlando, FL.
