Siena Men's Golf opened play at the 2026 MAAC Championships with a strong showing at Disney's Magnolia Course, posting a 4-over par team score to sit in second place—just three strokes behind leader Iona (+1) after round one.
Sophomore
KC Nickel headlined the day with a brilliant 3-under par 69, placing him atop the individual leaderboard and setting the tone for the Saints on the par-72 layout.
Siena placed two golfers inside the top 10, led by Nickel, while
Gavin Crowley carded a +1 to sit tied for 10
th overall. Additionally, he was one of three players to eagle a hole in the first round.
Rounding out the Saints' scoring lineup,
Michael Broeker (+2, 74) and
Austin Giroux (+4, 76) are both positioned well individually. Broeker enters the second round tied for 16
th, while Giroux—the field leader on par 5s (-4)—is tied for 30
th.
Michael McConie ended his round +13.
Through 18 holes, Siena's +4 total gives the Saints a slim margin over Sacred Heart (+5) and positions them firmly in contention entering round two.
The Saints will look to continue their momentum when they return to the course for the second round on Wednesday, Apr. 29, with tee times beginning at 10:15 a.m.
