Siena Men's Golf remains firmly in contention in its pursuit of a third Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championship in the last four seasons. The Saints carded a +3, 291 in Wednesday's second round at Disney's Magnolia Course in Orlando, FL, bringing their 36-hole total to +7, 583—good for third place heading into the final round.
Siena sits just eight strokes off the lead, trailing only Iona (-1) and Sacred Heart (+5), while maintaining a comfortable nine-shot cushion over fourth-place Fairfield.
For the second straight day,
KC Nickel and
Gavin Crowley led the charge. Nickel continued his stellar play, firing a second consecutive round of -3, 69 to remain the tournament's individual leader by two strokes. The sophomore is the only player in the field to post rounds in the 60s in both days and stands at -6 overall. Nickel also paces the field with 12 birdies and ranks tied for first in par-3 (2.88) and par-4 (3.95) scoring averages.
Crowley made a significant move up the leaderboard, climbing six spots into a tie for fourth after shooting -2 on Wednesday. The junior now sits at -1 overall, trimming three strokes off his opening round behind a five-birdie performance.
Austin Giroux also gained ground, rising six positions into a tie for 23rd at +7 overall following a +3, 75 in round two.
Michael McConie delivered one of the day's biggest improvements, shaving eight strokes off his first-round score with a +5, 77 to move into a tie for 48th at +18.
Michael Broeker rounds out the lineup in 36th place at +11 after posting a +9, 81.
The Saints will look to make their final push when they tee off the third and final round Thursday at 10:15 a.m., with a championship firmly within reach.
