Saints Primed For Saturday Showdown With Fairfield

Early Conference Co-Leaders Clash on Hickey Field

LOUDONVILLE, NY – Early Metro Conference co-leaders Siena Women's Soccer and Fairfield battle in a potential November preview when the Saints host the Stags in a Saturday showdown at 1 p.m. on Hickey Field.

Brett Bosley, Jayanna Monds '20, and Ro Yeon Lee have the call of the action on ESPN+. Saturday marks the third of five Siena Women's Soccer regular season home ESPN+ broadcasts this fall. All additional home matches will be broadcast on Siena All-Access.

The two most successful programs amongst the current conference membership with 11 combined championships, the longtime rivals prepare to meet for possibly the last time before Fairfield (4-3-1, 2-0) departs the Metro next summer. Siena (6-1-1, 2-0) gets the Stags on home turf for the final regular season matchup, where the Saints are unbeaten in 18 of their last 20 matches (13-2-5) while outscoring the opposition by a 36-7 margin.

Siena could not enter the heavyweight matchup any hotter in riding a seven-match unbeaten streak (6-0-1) – the program's longest since opening the Spring 2021 COVID MAAC Championship season 6-0-2. The Saints have shutout their opponents by a 14-0 margin during the stretch on the strength of a program-record seven consecutive shutouts spanning 630:57.

Siena, which has now recorded clean sheets in 12 of their past 14 matches dating back to last season, enters the weekend ranked tied for second nationally with seven shutouts. Junior goalkeeper Cate Burns – who set a new program record with her 22nd career shutout last weekend – currently stands alone as the national leader with her seven clean sheets. She carries program individual records of seven straight shutouts and a 630:00 shutout streak into Saturday's action.

The offense was equally impressive in a 6-0 win last time out at Rider last Saturday, exploding for the program's first six-goal effort since the 2024 conference opener vs. Iona. The Saints, which had entered play having totaled just nine goals over their first seven matches, had 11 different players register at least one point in the match. Siena dished out nine assists as part of a 21-point effort.

Metro preseason favorite and two-time defending regular season champion Fairfield opened conference play with consecutive home shutout victories over Rider and Canisius. The Stags are unbeaten in 30 of their last 31 conference regular season matches (26-1-4) while outscoring the opposition by an 86-17 margin. Fairfield enters play with a 17-match conference regular season unbeaten streak (15-0-2) dating back to their last loss on Oct. 16, 2024 at Sacred Heart.

Siena and Fairfield meet for the 37th time in a series which the Stags lead 23-8-5. Fairfield is unbeaten spanning the past six matchups (5-0-1) dating back to the Saints 1-0 overtime triumph on Oct. 3, 2018 in Connecticut. Moreover, the Stags are undefeated over their last seven trips to Loudonville (5-0-2), with the last Siena victory coming 16 years ago 2-1 in double overtime on Oct. 29, 2010.
