ALBANY, N.Y. - Siena (11-14/8-5 MAAC) bounced back from a sluggish first half to post a convincing 68-58 victory over Loyola (3-19/2-11) in front of 6,215 fans at Pepsi Arena Thursday evening. The Saints shot 48% from the floor and out-scored the Greyhounds 68-58 after the intermission en route to the win.
Loyola controlled the action for most of the half, building as large as a nine-point lead, before settling for a 38-36 halftime advantage. B.J. Davis and local product Lucious Jordan combined for six three-point field goals and 23 of the Greyhounds 38 first half points. Siena had nine players score in the initial stanza and used a 12-3 run midway through the half to pull even. The Saints also shot 63% from the field in the first half.
Andy Cavo hit a three-pointer less than a minute into the second half to give Siena the lead for good. Sophomore Mark Price, who finished with a team-high 12 points, hit a key three pointer to stretch the margin to nine a few moments later. Justin Miller, whose thunderous jam with five minutes remaining put the game away, was next best with 11. Cavo added 10 to round out the double figure scorers for the victors. Dwayne Archbold's finished with eight points, snapping his streak of 21 consecutive double-digit scoring games.
Jordan paced Loyola's attack with 15 points, Davis added 12 for the visitors.
Siena limited the Greyhounds to 30.0% from the field in the second half and 39.5% on the game. The Saints have held their opposition under 40% from the floor in all 11 of their victories this season.
