LOUDONVILLE, NY – New Siena Men's Basketball Head Coach Nevada Smith has officially announced his fifth new addition to the Saints 2026-27 roster, with the signing of seven-foot Spanish prospect Andrés Amón.
 
"Andrés brings us some much-needed size up front," said Smith. "He is a legit frontline player who is new to the game. Andrés love for working and the growth he has made in a short period of time has been astonishing. He has a great mind and comes from a basketball family. We are excited for Andrés to get here and be a part of the Siena family."
 
A 7-1 center from Madrid, Spain, Amón was named to the Spain U20 National Team roster today for the Eurobasket Tournament next month in Slovenia.
 
Amón broke out with Club Baloncesto Estudiantes, S.A.D. this past season in the Third Division FEB. He averaged 10.9 points and 9.6 rebounds spanning 24 regular season contests, posting nine double-doubles including in each of his final three games where he averaged a whopping 17.0 points and 20.3 rebounds.
 
Amón played a vital role for Movistar Estudiantes B's promotion where he averaged 11.3 points and 11.7 rebounds in three playoff games. His breakout performance earned him a late-season promotion to Estudiantes' First Team, where he averaged 2.3 points and 3.0 rebounds in 6.5 minutes over three appearances.
 
Amón previously competed in the Silver League for Virgen de Atocha.
 
Amon becomes the 10^th scholarship member of the Saints 2026-27 roster, and fifth newcomer since Smith took the helm. Amon joins fellow newcomers Tim Ibukunoluwa, Trent Egbiremolen, Pace Prosser, and Tan Yildizoglu, re-committed incoming freshman Parrish Edmond, Jr., and returners Brendan Coyle, Reid Ducharme, Isaiah Henderson, and Owen Schlager.
