Freshman Burgandy McCurty was named MAAC Player of the Week for the week ended October 15. The conference office made the announcement in its weekly report provided Monday morning. McCurty helped Siena to a 1-1 week in a pair of MAAC road matches.
McCurty (Port Washington, N.Y.) did not commit a single attack error in 51 total attacks in Siena's matches at Iona and Manhattan. On the week, she posted an astounding .608 attack percentage. In the Saints' five-game loss to Iona, she killed 18 of 25 attacks (.720) and added seven block assists. She killed 13 of 26 attacks in the Manhattan win (.500) and collected three blocks. McCurty led the Saints in kills in both games, averaging 3.9 kills and 1.3 blocks per game in the two matches.
McCurty leads Siena with a .354 attack percentage this season. She is one of three players averaging at least three kills per game for the defending MAAC Champions.
McCurty has been named MAAC Rookie of the Week twice (9/11 and 10/2) this season. She and her teammates return to action in a Time Warner telecast match with Syracuse Tuesday night in Loudonville.
