Antoine Jordan was one of five players named to the MAAC First Team released by the conference office during a media conference call at noon today. Sophomore Kojo Mensah was a Third Team All-MAAC pick and freshman Kenny Hasbrouck was selected to the All-Rookie team. No Siena players were on any of the MAAC preseason teams.
The First Team selection caps off a stellar senior season for Jordan who led the Saints with 17.4 points and eight rebounds per game. He becomes one of five finalists for MAAC Player of the Year, which will be released at the awards reception Friday afternoon at 5 p.m. at Pepsi Arena. Iona's Steve Burtt, Saint Peter's Keydren Clark, Marist's Jared Jordan and Loyola's Andre Collins joined Jordan on the First Team. Jordan shot 47% from the floor and 46% from 3-point range this season.
Mensah averaged 16.7 points, 6.2 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game this year. He was the only player in the MAAC to average 16 points, six rebounds and three assists per game. Mensah reached double figures in 23 of Siena's 27 games and scored 20 points or more 10 times.
Hasbrouck was named MAAC Rookie of the Week seven times (prior to the release of Monday's final weekly awards). He averaged 12.3 points to lead all newcomers in the league this season. Hasbrouck added 4.3 rebounds, 2.6 assists and shot 46% from the floor and 42% from 3-point range. He is one of five finalists for the MAAC Rookie of the Year award which will also be released at Friday's press conference.
Siena, the #4 seed in this weekend's MAAC Championships, will take on the winner of the #5 Saint Peter's vs. #10 Rider game Saturday at 5 p.m. in the MAAC Quarterfinals.
