Arkansas used a 12-run seventh to break open a close game on its way to a 17-2 win over Siena Saturday in Fayetteville in front of 2,425 fans at Baum Stadium. Andy Wilkins and Chase Leavitt each had three hits for the Razorbacks.
Siena trailed just 4-1 before Arkansas sent 16 hitters to the plate in a school-record setting seventh inning. The Razorbacks had just five hits in the inning as the Saints issued four walks and hit four batters.
Wilkins delivered two big blows in the inning with a one-out two-run double and a two-out three-run home run. He finished the day 3 for 5 at the plate with three runs scored and five RBI.
Arkansas has reeled off five-straight wins to improve its record to 10-1 on the season, while Siena falls to 1-8. The two teams will complete their three-game set Sunday at 12:05 p.m. CST.
Cliff Springston started on the mound and pitched a team-season-high 6.1 innings to improve to 3-0. He allowed just one run on five hits with four strikeouts and no walks.
Craig Marcellus pitched well, but took the loss for Siena to fall to 0-3, allowing six runs - five earned - on seven hits in six innings.
Nick Messinger homered and had two of Siena's seven hits.
Aaron Murphree homered for the fifth straight game and knocked in his 25th run of the young season.
