Siena pounded out 23 hits in a 20-6 drubbing of Fairfield in the back end of a MAAC baseball doubleheader Saturday afternoon in Loudonville. The Stags earned a 6-4 win in the opener.

Rick Seltzer began the second game with an opposite field home run - his first of five hits in the seven inning contest. It was a harbinger of things to come.

Siena scored seven times in its first at bat and four times in the second inning to break the game wide open. The Saints scored in every inning but the fifth, and posted multi-run innings in the first, second, fourth and sixth innings. Six players posted multi-hit games and every starter collected at least one hit.

Nick Messinger finished 4-for-5 with three RBI and two runs scored. Freshman Do DiPetta was 2-for-4 with his first collegiate home run and three RBI. Jacob Willis had three hits and three runs scored and Phil Cahill and Kevin Quaranto posted two-hit games.

Freshman Zach Hartman went the distance on the mound hurling seven innings and allowing four earned runs. He improved to 3-0 on the season.

In the first game, David Dudish's home run broke a 1-1 tie in the seventh and Fairfield added four runs in the eighth before holding on for a 6-4 win.

Both starting pitchers were solid. Rob Gariano earned the win for the Stags allowing just one run and striking out eight in seven innings of work. Siena starter Craig Chaput was charged with five runs in seven and a third innings. He struck out eight as well and was effective until his departure in the eighth inning.

Willis was the only Saint with a multi-hit game finishing 2-for-3. Jason Rago had two hits and two RBI - both of which came on his eighth inning home run.

The two teams will complete the three game set Sunday at noon at Siena Field.
