LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Courtney Highsmith, Lindsey Rosecrans and Ryan Tierney were named team captains for the upcoming season as announced by head coach Andrea Duffy earlier today.
"These three seniors have shown a great work ethic and desire to compete for a MAAC Championship," Duffy said. "Additionally, they have shown the ability to balance academics and athletics during their career at Siena. I believe that Courtney, Lindsey, and Ryan will lead this young Siena squad throughout the season and are true leaders both on and off the field."
Highsmith (Crofton, Md./South River), a senior midfielder, scored 15 goals and had five assists last season. She started all14 games and placed second on the team with 33 groundballs. Highsmith was named to the 2008 MAAC All-Academic Team.
Rosecrans (Niskayuna, N.Y./Niskayuna), a senior midfielder, served as captain last year. Rosecrans led the team with 19 goals and had three assists in 2008. She has 73 career goals.
Tierney (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker), a senior attackman, scored 15 goals and had six assists. Her 21 points were tied for third on the team. She has 58 career goals.
Siena opens the season on the road at Bryant University on March 1.
