Andrea Piela `08 has signed a seasonal contract to play for Caserta Softball of the Italian Softball League. She was named to the First Team All-MAAC as a senior and to the MAAC All-Academic Team three times (2006-08). She also holds Siena single-season records for most games played (52) and most times hit by a pitch (6).

She was contacted by the Caserta coach after he had talked to Siena softball coach Deanna Parks.

"I thought my career was over after Siena," Piela said. "I'm excited to get the chance to continue to play and see the world. They have been looking for a catcher for a while and I expect to be thrown right into the mix once the season starts."

In her four year career, Piela played in 160 games, starting 152 of them. She batted .252, scored 70 runs, walked 60 times and drove in 43 runs. She will be keeping us updated throughout the season by writing a weekly blog for SienaSaints.com.
