Siena water polo dropped a pair of contests on Friday, losing to fifth-ranked Michigan and Cal Lutheran by scores of 15-3 and 14-7 respectively. Jackie Crosby led all Siena players with five points on the day.
In the day's first game the Wolverines led throughout, opening a 6-1 halftime advantage and never looked back. Crosby, Traci Robertson and Rebecca Robinson accounted for the Siena (1-9) scores.
Crosby added two ejections drawn and Robertson contributed two steals. Jennifer Kissel played the first half in goal registering eight saves, while Stephani Pouder played the second stanza making five stops.
In the nightcap, defending SCIAC Champions and host Cal Lutheran broke open a 2-2 first quarter tie by outscoring the Saints 5-1 in a decisive second quarter. Crosby and Camille Norman led the way with four points each (two goals, two assists) while Cally Timm, Devan Ragg and Nicole Hagi added the other scores.
Crosby concluded a solid day by adding two steals and drawing four ejections on the defensive end. Kissel added six more saves in goal.
The Saints continue their grueling stretch of eight games in five days in California Saturday with the opening day of the Chapman Invitational in Orange, Calif. Siena matches up with La Verne at 4 p.m. and Whittier at 7:45 p.m.
