The Siena water polo team dropped a pair of contests Saturday afternoon in the season-opening Harvard Invitational in Cambridge, Mass. The Saints fell in the opener to 19th ranked Brown, 14-4 before dropping the nightcap as well to the host Crimson, 15-9.
In the season-opener, Brown scored four goals in the first two minutes and never looked back. Preseason All-MAAC selection Camille Norman led Siena (0-2) with a pair of goals, while Jackie Crosby and freshman Cally Timm added the others.
Defensively, Norman added three steals while Crosby drew a pair of ejections. Jennifer Kissel stopped nine shots in goal.
In the final game of the day, Siena jumped out to an early 4-2 lead, but the host Crimson scored five unanswered goals to take a lead it would never relinquish. Elise Molnar (five goals) and Devan Kennifer (four goals) combined for nine of Harvard's scores.
Norman recorded a hat trick, tallying five points total while also swiping two steals and drawing two ejections in a solid all-around effort. Crosby added two goals and an assist along with two steals and a team-high three ejections, while Devan Ragg accounted for a pair of 6-on-5 goals.
Freshman Monica Chaviano added a pair of goals and assists while Kissel made 11 more saves between the pipes.
Siena returns to action next Saturday for the two-day Bison Invitational hosted by Bucknell. The Saints open action against George Washington at 4:30 p.m.
