Binghamton Buries Siena Baseball

April 13, 2010

Final Stats

Binghamton turned six double plays and scored in six different innings in blasting Siena 11-0 Tuesday afternoon in Loudonville. The lone bright spot for the Saints was the work of freshman pitcher John Kellogg who tossed five innings of relief allowing just two runs.

The Bearcats scored three times in the first and three times in the second to take firm control of the game. Binghamton scored two of its three runs in the first on sacrifice flies. In the second, Corey Taylor's second hit of the game chased home two runs. Taylor finished 3-for-5 with two runs scored and three RBI.

The Siena offense meanwhile was stagnant, and anytime the Saints did get something going, Binghamton turned a double play to squelch the threat.

No Siena player posted a multi-hit game. Binghamton had five players with two hits or more.

The Bearcats has seven pitchers combine on the shutout. Starter Joe Swindells was awarded the win as a result of the predetermined split rotation. He went two scoreless innings allowing two hits and a walk.

The Saints will look to quickly forget this afternoon's effort when they take the field tomorrow against NYIT. First pitch from here in Loudonville is again set for 4 p.m.
