LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Sophomore Bryan Neufeld turned the tide in the fourth quarter, scoring three straight goals in less than two minutes to give Siena a 9-8 win over Detroit in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference game Saturday afternoon. This is Siena's fourth straight win. Neufeld finished with four goals and teammate Ryan Duggan tallied one goal and added three assists.

This was the first ever meeting between Siena and Detroit. The Titans joined the MAAC prior to this season.

Detroit (2-7, 1-2) broke the ice when Tim Lehto scored less than 80 seconds into the game. Siena (5-3, 2-0) responded with three consecutive goals, the first off the stick of senior Jordan Loftus. This was Loftus' first game of the season after missing the first seven due to injury. He scored on his first shot.

Detroit scored three goals in the second quarter and one early in the third to grab a 5-3 lead. The Titans unexpectedly led the MAAC favorite Saints with 9:53 left in the fourth quarter. But a scoring spree by Neufeld put down the potential upset as he scored three goals in less than two minutes. Neufeld's last two goals came after Detroit turnovers. Sophomore Evan Gallina sprinted the ball down the field in transition and fed Neufeld for the quick strike goal. Thirty-four seconds later, Loftus and Duggan double-teamed Lehto coming out of the Detroit zone and checked the ball loose. Neufeld picked up the ground ball and beat A.J. Levell one-on-one.

Neufeld has recorded a point in every game of his Siena career (26) and has the sixth longest point scoring streak in the nation.

John Rogener helped secure the win when he forced a turnover as the Titans were coming down the field with 1:19 left. Bryan Hale picked up the loose ball and Siena ran out the rest of the clock.

Senior goalie Brent Herbst (5-2) made seven saves in the win. Levell (2-7) made 14 saves in defeat.

Sophomore Phil Dumont won 9-of-12 faceoffs for the Saints.

The Saints return to action on Wednesday when they play Binghamton on the road. Game time is scheduled for 4 p.m.
